FAQs
What age is good to start learning drums?
We typically recommend age 5 and up, mainly due to the physical size requirements of a full drum kit. However, we evaluate each child individually during a free trial lesson. We’ve had amazing 4-year-old students who were natural talents!
Do I need a drum kit to take lessons?
Not immediately. We have professional drum sets here for lessons. At minimum, you’ll need drumsticks and can practice on pillows at home. While having a kit helps progress, we’ll work with your situation. Often great starter kits can be found on places like Gumtree and Facebook Marketplace sites.
What's the difference between acoustic and electric drums for practice?
Both work fine for learning fundamentals. Electric drums are great for volume control and space constraints. Acoustic drums offer more nuanced sound response, but for the first 2-3 years of learning, either option allows you to develop proper coordination and timing.
How much should I practice?
Every day you should be doing at least 10 minutes of practise. The beauty is that you don’t need to be on a full kit to do this. but most of all consistency and frequency matter more than duration.
Why choose professional lessons over YouTube?
